Medical Equipment Planner III

About the Role

Provides medical equipment planning support for use in the architectural design and construction of standard and non-standard capital projects. Collaborates within the team to develop equipment planning documents for new and existing care delivery environments, including technical and environmental requirements in support of contract documents. Develops standard and non-standard medical equipment plans, budgets, and specifications for Kaiser Permanente medical facilities, major renovations, and expansions. Establishes communication networks among project teams, facilities, regional personnel, and equipment manufacturers/vendors. Utilizes project management techniques to accommodate stakeholder needs and conflicting demands to ensure optimal use of medical equipment.

• Contributes to comparative equipment studies by monitoring emerging technologies, assessing new healthcare-related technologies, and disseminating information within the organization. Conducts functional and value cost analyses.
• Serves as a company representative by communicating effectively within the organization and with external contacts. Establishes proactive communication networks among project teams, architects, contractors, clinicians, and vendors.
• Provides medical equipment planning in support of architectural design for national capital projects by creating standard and non-standard equipment planning documents. Reviews contract documents and drawings to identify equipment and design conflicts, coordinates with vendors, and ensures proper equipment placement on construction documents.
• Conducts equipment punch activities and forecasting independently as needed.
• Specifies medical equipment by evaluating, locating, and recommending equipment for individual projects. Prepares medical equipment lists for procurement, monitors procurement activities, and interprets guidelines to provide equipment specifications.
• Engages in project management by using techniques to consult with user groups and strategic partners. Performs functional analysis of equipment, accommodates stakeholder needs, and defines key equipment criteria for projects. Offers alternative solutions to reduce costs while maximizing function without compromising patient care, ADA requirements, or ergonomics.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in medical, healthcare, architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field AND minimum three (3) years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare, clinical engineering, business, biomedical, IT, architectural, or construction environment, OR
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in medical equipment planning, healthcare, clinical engineering, business, biomedical, IT, architectural, or construction environment or a directly related field.

• Full-time
• Shift: Day (Mon–Fri, 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM)
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
• Travel: Yes, 50% of the time
• Work Setting: Flexible (worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente’s Authorized States policy)

Pay

$96,500 – $124,850 per year. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
