Medical Director | Physician
About the role
The Medical Director will combine patient care, clinical leadership, and VBC program management, partnering closely with the central interdisciplinary team, population health, and operations teams. They will oversee a small panel of patients, provide clinical oversight and hands-on coaching to nurse practitioners, identify market opportunities, improve clinical processes, and lead VBC and population health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- See a small panel of their own patients
- Provide clinical oversight and hands-on coaching to Upperline Plus' nurse practitioners
- Identify market opportunities
- Improve clinical processes
- Lead VBC and population health initiatives
- Optimize the care model to improve patients’ outcomes and quality of life
- Spends approximately 30-50% of time in the clinic setting
- Primary home base clinic is ideally at our Johns Creek location in Duluth
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
- Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Preventative Medicine, or Geriatrics
- Active license in Georgia and willing to pursue multi-state licensure if needed
- 5 years of outpatient practice experience, inclusive of caring for adult / senior high-risk, polychronic, clinically complex patient populations
- Clinically practiced in a value-based care model and/or championed programs to improve quality, patient outcomes and reduce risk
- Clinical oversight or coaching of other providers
- Must reside in market; be willing and able to provide care to a small panel of patients and routinely visit clinics and providers within the market
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Exposure or experience improving or implementing clinical processes, protocols, or evidence-based guidelines
- Experience or expertise in VBC programs (e.g., Transitional Care Management, Complex Care Management, ED Diversion, Advanced Care Planning, High Risk Patient Outreach)
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate to compensation for similar positions in the region and based on prior training and experience. Comprehensive benefit options include medical, dental and vision, 401K, PTO, and parental leave. Medical malpractice, licensure, and boards dues are paid annually. CME expense allotment is also provided.
