Medical Director Physician

About the role

The Nursing Home Medical Director oversees the daily operations of various Nursing Homes within Essen Health Care. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing various aspects of resident care.

Responsibilities

• Staffing and financial management
• Supervising resident care
• Marketing and community outreach
• Ensuring compliance with government and accrediting body rules and regulations
• Developing and implementing resident care policies and procedures
• Coordinating physician services and medical care
• Evaluating and addressing medical and clinical concerns
• Collaborating with the health care team and other practitioners
• Assisting in the development of contact relationships with other health care delivery systems
• Participating in clinician in-service training
• Enforcing policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure quality and safe service

Requirements

A thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local standards for long-term care is essential. The successful candidate should have:

• A Doctor of Medicine (MD)
• Board Eligible/Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine
• Formally recognized qualification in geriatric medicine
• Certification as a Medical Director in Long Term Care (AMDA CMD) is preferred
• Maintain local/state regulations and certifications, including Continuing Medical Education (CME)
• Maintain Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations requirements
• Experience managing in long-term care settings
