Medical Director of Psychiatry

About the role

The Medical Director of Psychiatry will lead the inpatient involuntary unit at RWJ University Hospital Somerset, managing admissions, psychiatric evaluations, discharge summaries, and potential civil commitment proceedings. They will also direct and participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and disposition.

Responsibilities

• Manage admissions, psychiatric evaluations, discharge summaries, and potential civil commitment proceedings
• Direct and participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and disposition
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care
• Ensure compliance with certifying requirements

Requirements

• ABPN board-certified or board-eligible in Adult Psychiatry
• NJ licensed or eligible for licensure in NJ
• Experience working in an inpatient setting preferred
• High energy, adaptable, and team-oriented personality

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Residency training in Adult Psychiatry

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and treatment protocols

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $315,000 to $505,000 per year, with the compensation offered depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
