Medical Director of Hematopathology
About the role
The Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida (NCH-FL) Medical Director of Hematopathology, Department of Pathology is a physician leader responsible for overseeing clinical laboratory operations and diagnostic testing for blood, bone marrow, and lymph node disorders. In partnership with the NCHF-FL Chair of Pathology, lead a team of NCH-FL pathologists to ensure regulatory compliance and provide expert clinical consultation to oncologists and hematologists.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and diagnostic oversight for Hematopathology services in NCH-FL.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, quality, and patient safety standards across laboratory services.
- Lead CFL program development and service expansion initiatives, including flow cytometry.
- Serve as a hematopathology subject matter expert for maximizing and optimizing the EMR and laboratory information systems as it relates to hematopathology orders, results and clinical and laboratory documentation.
- Partner with Chair of Pathology in providing medical and administrative leadership for laboratory stewardship, operational performance, resource management, and continuous improvement related to hematopathology services.
- Collaborate with clinical, research, and administrative partners to support innovative patient care, academic advancement, and enterprise integration.
Requirements
Inspired by Nemours' mission to improve children's health, the ideal candidate will have:
- A MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Florida Medical License.
- Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
- At least 5 years of experience in hematopathology, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and laboratory information systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The Medical Director of Hematopathology works a standard Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional evening and weekend coverage as needed.
