Medical Director - multiple sites

Position Summary

The Site Medical Director promotes and provides high-quality medical care under administrative and clinical supervision of the Regional Medical Director. They work collaboratively with various medical professionals and participate in discussions about quality of care, patient safety, and patient complaints.

Responsibilities

• Participates in discussions regarding the resolution of problems related to quality of care, patient safety issues, and patient complaints/grievances.
• Maintains utilization management and clinical practice standards through the application of the organization's clinical criteria.
• Develops medical/clinical policies and case consultations to clinical staff when needed.
• Maintains the highest level of medical quality and service at the assigned site and represents the organization's clinical philosophy to patients, providers, facility personnel, and the community.
• Utilizes electronic medical record system as applicable throughout the scope of duties and responsibilities.
• Treats difficult to manage patients with chronic disease and utilizes corporate clinical experts for chronic disease management.
• Prepares and presents cases at Collegial Review and ensures no backlogs occur for chronic care clinics and sick call.
• Reviews care plans for all patients returning from hospitalizations, ER runs, and off-site specialty care visits.
• Reviews and signs-off on labs daily.
• Provides clinical supervision (a leader and mentor for) staff physicians and mid-level providers at the site level.
• Works closely with the site manager to ensure successful, efficient, and effective patient care.
• Communicates regularly with dentists, mental health professionals, and optometrists on site to develop a more holistic approach to healthcare for our patients.
• Shares in after-hours and weekend call duties.

Requirements

• Licenses: Current West Virginia Medical license; Current West Virginia Controlled Substance license; Current DEA Certification.
• CPR certification required; CCHP certification preferred.
• Education: Medical Degree required. Board certified or Board eligible preferred.
• Experience: Five (5) years of clinical experience preferred; Prior experience with use of electronic medical record system.
