About the role
The Med/Surg Medical Director at MultiCare is responsible for overseeing medical/surgical units, ensuring high-quality care, and collaborating with various stakeholders to improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical oversight for the medical/surgical units, ensuring evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with hospital and system leadership, physicians, and clinical teams to foster a culture of improvement and teamwork.
- Facilitate collaboration between critical care, emergency medicine, and other specialties to ensure seamless patient care.
- Ensure medical/surgical operations meet local, state, and federal regulations, including Joint Commission standards.
- Advise on equipment, technology, and resource needs to maintain standard medical/surgical care services.
- Address patient, staff, and provider concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Establish and review medical/surgical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evolving clinical standards.
- Attend and engage with system clinical councils with leadership in local implementation, education, and performance improvement.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD or DO).
- Licensure to practice medicine in the state of Washington as a physician.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting, ideally with significant time spent on medical/surgical and/or critical care.
- Leadership experience in a clinical or administrative role.

Pay and Benefits
