Medical Director (Full-Time)
About the role
The Medical Director will provide full-scope, patient-centered outpatient OB/GYN care across the lifespan, including office-based and hospital-based gynecologic procedures and surgeries. They will serve as Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and oversight within Diana Health’s integrated, team-based care model. The Medical Director will also support Certified Nurse Midwives as needed, serving as physician backup within a midwife-led model and co-managing cases to ensure safe, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities
- Provide full-scope, patient-centered outpatient OB/GYN care across the lifespan, including office-based and hospital-based gynecologic procedures and surgeries.
- Serve as Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and oversight within Diana Health’s integrated, team-based care model.
- Support Certified Nurse Midwives as needed, serving as physician backup within a midwife-led model and co-managing cases to ensure safe, evidence-based care.
- Develop, implement, and annually review clinical policies, protocols, and patient education materials in alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Practice leadership on clinical operations, including admission, transfer, discharge, and emergency care processes.
- Participate in regulatory compliance, accreditation activities, and surveys.
- Engage in Diana Health’s Continuous Quality Improvement program to advance quality, safety, and patient experience.
- Provide and support clinical education, in-service training, and professional development to promote consistent, high-quality care.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure effective communication, coordinated care, and a positive work environment.
- Build and maintain relationships with hospital partners and community organizations to support continuity of care.
- Participate in an agreed number of 24-hour call shifts as part of the laborist service, serving as backup to in-house CNMs and managing obstetric and gynecologic emergencies.
- Maintain call-coverage requirements, including proximity to the hospital during call shifts and rapid response when birth is imminent.
- Ensure timely, accurate clinical documentation and patient communications.
- Provide hours of service consistent with Practice needs.
Qualifications
- Board certified or eligible in obstetrics / gynecology
- At least 5 years of experience is preferred
- Demonstrated leadership experience required
- Trained in robotics
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative OB/CNM practice with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient-centered, valuing patient preferences/choice, shared decision-making, and a holistic approach to care
- Active DEA license
- Licensed to practice in Tennessee upon start date
