Medical Director Community Health Aide Program

About the role

The Medical Director for the Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) at Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) in Anchorage, Alaska, plays a pivotal role in shaping workforce development, clinical excellence, and educational quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic initiatives to align workforce capabilities with organizational goals, program priorities, and statewide standards.
  • Serve as the collaborating physician for CHAP instructors and APPs, ensuring clinical competency through chart reviews, case consultations, and professional oversight.
  • Provide leadership in instruction, quality assurance, curriculum development, and competency systems design to support both classroom and virtual learning environments.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or relevant specialty.
  • Experience in healthcare administration and/or clinical leadership.
  • Strong commitment to Alaska Native and American Indian health and cultural competency.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proven track record of success in clinical practice and leadership roles.

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian healthcare needs.
