Responsibilities
- Participate in the development, approval and periodic review of the WSMC written clinical policies, procedures and protocols.
- Aid in the recruitment, selection, and review of clinical staff.
- Supervise and lead the Advanced Practice Providers.
- Assure that clinical services provided are consistent with accepted current practices and standard of care.
- Participate in and help to oversee student services, interns, and residents, including selection, coordination, and evaluations.
- Review relevant management and financial data as directed by the CMO or CEO, including but not limited to budget, funding contracts, grants, scheduling and provider productivity.
- Develop and oversee the provider patient schedule and provider work assignments for the assigned WSMC work site for approval by the CMO and CEO.
- Oversee provider meetings and communication with providers including any departmental activities.
- Assist CMO in developing external relationships with other healthcare and public organizations as directed.
- Review patient medical records based upon approved standards and criteria.
- Provide medical consultation as needed.
- Facilitate the referral of patients to other health care facilities or other health care providers.
- Document all pertinent information in patient’s electronic medical record according to Western Sierra Medical Clinic's Policies and Procedures.
- Uphold Western Sierra Medical Clinic's Policies and Procedures, infection control standards, applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Initiates and supervises medical care evaluation studies and is responsible for supervision of the WSMC quality assurance functions.
- Encourage and maintain activities that ensure professional relationships between the WSMC and other community physicians, home health agencies, durable medical equipment providers, and any agency benefiting WSMC services to the community.
- Formulate and update policies and procedures on proper drug handling, medical bylaws, and all aspects of medical care at WSMCCoordinate with the Chief Executive Officer to assure that the WSMC is in compliance with all licensing, accreditation, credentialing, and local, state and federal requirements.
- Participate in WSMC employee in-services training activities.
- Coordinate with Financial Officer to ensure appropriate documentation of procedural and diagnostic coding activities.
- Provides medical services a minimum of 25% of his/her time.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- A valid California Medical License.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in a leadership capacity in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures.
- Experience in managing and supervising medical staff, including advanced practice providers, students, interns, and residents.
- Experience in quality assurance and medical care evaluation studies.
- Experience in developing and overseeing provider schedules and work assignments.
- Experience in developing and maintaining positive relationships with community physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Experience in coordinating with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, credentialing, and local, state, and federal requirements.
- Experience in providing medical consultation and facilitating referrals.
- Experience in documenting medical records and upholding clinic policies and procedures.
- Experience in providing medical services a minimum of 25% of their time.
Pay
$130,000 - 220,000 annually.
