Department Summary
The Division of Student Life supports the university’s academic mission and strategic plan through comprehensive programs and services that promote and advance student learning and success while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community. Student Life includes four major portfolios, the Office of the Dean of Students, Experiential Learning & Engagement, Health & Wellbeing, and Division Administration. Key programs and departments within the division include but are not limited to University Health Services, Erb Memorial Union, Physical Education & Recreation, Parent and Family Programs, Major Student Events (Commencement, Homecoming, University Day), Fraternity and Sorority Life, Counseling, Health Promotion, Community and Belonging, Student Government Engagement & Success, Student Conduct and Community Standards, and Support for Students in Crisis and Students of Concern.
Position Summary
The Medical Director provides strategic oversight and clinical leadership for all medical services, a department with an operating budget of approximately $9.2 million. The Medical Director plays a pivotal role in guiding a multidisciplinary team of over 50 clinical professionals, including 14 direct reports, to deliver high-quality, student-centered care.
Minimum Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited medical or osteopathic school
- M.D. or D.O. licensure by the Oregon Medical Board, or ability to obtain by agreed upon start date of employment
- Valid Drug Enforcement Administration certification for prescription of controlled substances, or ability to obtain by agreed upon start date of employment
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification, or ability to obtain by agreed upon start date of employment
- Maintains ABMS-approved board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine
Professional Competencies
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills and experience in using practice management software
- Ability to provide culturally appropriate care for a diverse college population
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
