Medical Director

About the role

Join TTUHSC Managed Care as a Unit Medical Director and lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care within a correctional health setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services to patients
• Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of physicians, PAs, and NPs
• Ensure care aligns with TTUHSC, TDCJ, and NCCHC standards
• Coordinate and optimize healthcare delivery across the facility
• Exercise independent clinical judgment with support from the Regional Medical Director
• Champion quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence
• Directly supervise, mentor, and develop clinical staff
• Drive hiring, training, performance management, and team development
• Collaborate with TTUHSC faculty and interdisciplinary teams
• Address complex clinical and operational challenges in a dynamic environment

Requirements

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Experience in correctional health settings preferred
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Current license to practice medicine in Texas
• Experience in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Ability to work independently with support from the Regional Medical Director
