OHMC is seeking a Medical Director to join our Medical & Scientific Services team and drive the development, execution, and delivery of multiple medical communication projects.
About the role
The Medical Director will play a key role in developing new and strengthening existing client relationships, ensuring scientific needs are met with strategic focus, scientific rigor, accuracy, and clinical relevance. This role also involves developing junior scientific team members.
Responsibilities
- Scientific Content
- Independently provide client-ready deliverables.
- Delegate work effectively and efficiently, providing clear, actionable feedback and direction.
- Oversee content development on complex projects across multiple teams/therapeutic areas and guide data analysis decision-making.
- Review scientific content developed by team members and mentor others in developing this skill.
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Contribute to scope creation and provide feedback on scientific aspects of budget development.
- Collaborate with the Client Services partner for forecasting, staffing, and resource planning.
- Strategic Perspective and Guidance
- Serve as scientific lead on assigned accounts, providing strategic direction and leadership.
- Develop understanding of therapeutic categories through fundamental literature review.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry standards and compliance.
- Client Engagement and Influence
- Build and manage strong relationships with clients and medical experts.
- Moderate and facilitate effective, productive client sessions.
- Guide others in developing strong communication channels with physicians.
- Team Engagement and Influence
- Communicate effectively and propose rational solutions when conflicts arise.
- Partner with Client Services on account/issue management.
- Understand internal processes and roles/responsibilities of all departments.
- Guide career development and performance management for direct reports.
- Business Development
- Work with functional teams and Client Services to cross-sell services, demonstrating understanding of business environment and client strategy.
- Participate in business development initiatives with existing clients and contribute to RFPs and pitches for new clients.
Requirements
- An advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD) with 3 to 5 years of experience in a Medical Communications agency setting.
- Strong therapeutic category knowledge and experience, especially in one or more specified categories.
- Experience working directly with pharmaceutical clients.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret data and provide strategic/scientific direction to clients.
- Proficiency in organizing teams and managing projects.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, detail-oriented environment.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, compliance, and regulations.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications, Internet research platforms, etc.
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
Pay
$100,000 - $140,000
Schedule
Omnicom requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, with potential for additional in-office days as directed by the agency or manager.
