About the Role

The Medical Director provides clinical leadership within their site and specialty, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based medical care while advancing HOPES' quality incentive, risk management, and Centers of Excellence goals. This role partners with the Chief Medical Officer and operational leaders on access, quality, sustainability, talent development, and community engagement priorities and supports provider performance, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement while fostering a collaborative, patient-first culture.

Essential Functions

  • Provide medical care as outlined by the appropriate medical provider position job description.
  • Provide clinical guidance to assigned medical staff, ensuring adherence to ethical, evidence-based, and team-based practice.
  • Schedule and facilitate regular individual and group staff meetings.
  • Support staff members in self-management, goal setting, and performance improvement.
  • Develop staffing schedules that meet patient medical care needs.
  • Coordinate changes in medical provider staffing patterns to ensure timely response to patient needs, including inpatient and subspecialty care.
  • Support the Medical Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Committee and supervise assigned CQI initiatives as directed.
  • Demonstrate accountability for medical programs within the Quality Management and Value-Based Revenue programs.
  • Offer feedback on operational processes and incorporate feedback received from providers.
  • Partner with other leaders to resolve operational concerns and issues.
  • Delegate clinically related program duties to responsible parties to carry out program initiatives.
  • Maintain medical operations in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and ethical practice standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor systems to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate compliance issues to the Chief Medical Officer in a timely manner.
  • Develop corrective strategies to address compliance concerns.
  • Assist with the investigation of patient complaints as requested.
  • Assist in the development of clinical policies, procedures, and training materials to anchor best practices in the clinical setting.
  • Conduct medical record reviews and chart audits, developing procedures and recommendations based on findings.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and training of new medical staff members.
  • Support the credentialing and privileging process for new medical staff, reviewing qualifications, training, and experience as requested by the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Monitor medical program resource utilization and provide input regarding budget planning and stewardship.
  • Build collaborative relationships with community partners, referral organizations, and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Lead site-level implementation of HOPES' Centers of Excellence priorities in Maternity SUD, Addiction Medicine, Pediatrics, and Geriatric Medicine, alongside excellence across primary and specialty care services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program in area of expertise, or an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) who completed an accredited training program, required.
  • Board Certification required.
  • Current and unrestricted professional license in the State of Nevada required: MD, DO, PA, or NP.
  • Active state Pharmacy and DEA license, including controlled substance prescribing authority required.
  • Valid Basic Life Support certification prior to hire and throughout employment required.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with electronic health record management, web browsers, and Microsoft Outlook required.
  • Skill in operating basic office equipment, including calculator, copier, scanner, fax machine, and telephone required.
  • Ability to interview and communicate with patients, with and without an interpreter, in a clinical setting in English required.
  • Skill in operating and interpreting various outpatient medical office equipment required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, leadership, and community partners in verbal and written formats required.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred.
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience with staff supervision preferred.
  • Experience in organizational development, personnel management, budget oversight, resource planning, and strategic planning preferred.
