Medical Director (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor)

Job Description

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida seeks a Medical Director for the UF Health Eye Center. This position combines direct patient care service with leadership responsibilities in support of ophthalmology clinical programs. Candidates should be eligible for the clinical faculty rank of Assistant Professor or above and demonstrate experience with and commitment to advancing clinical, surgical and educational excellence within an academic medical center. Comprehensive Ophthalmologists and all subspecialties are welcome.

Expected Salary

Salary, rank and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience with an excellent benefits package.

Minimum Requirements

• Clinical requirements include a medical degree (M.D.). Completion of an ACGME approved ophthalmology residency program as well as applicable postgraduate fellowship training if practicing a relevant subspecialty.
• Board certification or eligibility and the ability to obtain licensure to practice medicine in Florida are prerequisites.
• Incumbent will be credentialed as medical staff to provide patient care services within UF Health facilities and affiliated locations.
• Must be eligible for the rank of Assistant Professor or above and demonstrate experience with and commitment to advancing clinical, surgical and educational excellence within an academic medical center.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong commitment to teaching, resident training, and research as well as participation in academic activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal skills.
• Superior leadership qualities enhanced by superb judgment, problem-solving and cognitive skills.
