About the Position
The Medical Director provides physician leadership and clinical oversight for an assigned market, clinic, or defined population within CareMore’s value-based care model. This role is responsible for driving quality outcomes, supporting provider performance, and ensuring clinically appropriate, cost-effective care delivery for Medicare, Medicaid, and other risk-based populations. The Medical Director partners closely with operational leaders, care management, utilization management, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, reduce avoidable utilization, and advance population health strategies. This position will work on-site at 4821 N. Stone Ave, Tucson, AZ 85704.
Responsibilities
- Drives continuous improvement in clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and care performance.
- Provides clinical oversight and subject-matter expertise to support operational and quality initiatives.
- Provides patient care services to patients on an as-needed basis to support provider staff.
- Provides medical leadership for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Supports care model execution for complex and chronic populations.
- Leads initiatives focused on HEDIS performance, STAR ratings, risk adjustment / RAF accuracy, chronic disease management, and preventive care compliance.
- Drives reduction in hospital admissions, readmissions, and ED utilization.
- Leads and manages clinical staff at 3 locations: Henderson, Tenaya and Flamingo clinics, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Disease Management or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing physician in hospital medicine, primary care, or specialty medicine.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in applicable state(s).
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine, or related specialty.
- Valid DEA license.
- Experience working within value-based care, population health, or integrated care delivery models.
- Experience working in Medicare and/or Medicaid in managed care settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of clinical leadership or medical directorship experience.
- Prior experience collaborating with care management, utilization management, or interdisciplinary care teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and support quality improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience with Athena EMR.
