Medical Director, Advanced Heart Failure

About the role

Maine Medical Center (MMC), the state’s largest tertiary care hospital with over 700 beds and a key teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine, seeks a Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Section and Medical Director of the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Program.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Medical Director of the LVAD program, ensuring high-quality evaluation, implantation, inpatient management, and long-term follow-up for durable MCS patients.
  • Collaborate with Surgical Director of LVAD Team and LVAD Project Manager to increase LVAD implant volumes.
  • Provide strategic leadership for MMC’s system-wide Advanced Heart Failure Section, leading quality, safety, and operational efforts for the team.
  • Strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration across the cardiovascular service line.
  • Mentor faculty, fellows, residents, students, and APPs.

Requirements

  • MD or DO with board certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in heart failure cardiology.
  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical or academic settings.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Maine.
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

Pay

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
