Medical Director (Addiction Medicine) (Part-Time)

Job Summary

Spero Health is seeking a Part-Time Medical Director to join their team in Kentucky. The position involves prescribing buprenorphine and supporting the mission of "Saving Lives, Instilling Hope, and Restoring Relationships" for those suffering from substance use disorder.

About the Role

This role supports Middlesboro, Barbourville, and Williamsburg, KY clinics, utilizing an innovative integrated care model that combines physical and behavioral healthcare services.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and clinical oversight to providers.
• Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and substance-related health conditions.
• Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services.
• Provide education regarding illness and prognosis to assist with clarification of patient and family goals of care and support development of a comprehensive care plan.
• Interpret test results to diagnose any health issues and provide feedback to patients.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to administer the best care for patients who need both medical therapy and behavioral health services.
• Follow up with patients regarding their progress with medication and/or treatment.
• Contact patients' primary care physicians and/or specialists when necessary.
• Maintain required licensure, certifications, and CME credits.
• Review and oversee progress and treatment plans, including making any adjustments and reviewing 10% of charts.
• Must be physically present onsite 25% of the time the facility is open to the public.

Requirements

• Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician within the applicable state.
• Experience providing addiction medicine services for both medically and socially complex populations.
• Experience managing complex substance use disorders.
• Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.
• Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in state(s) where applicable.
• Ability to work on-site with diverse care teams in a variety of settings.
• Effective time management and communication skills.
• Computer literate and experienced with Electronic Medical Records.
