Responsibilities

  • Support and configure assigned medical device integration equipment, communication devices and associated applications.
  • Configure, install and support medical and communication devices in the patient care setting.
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with vendors on issue resolution.
  • Partner with customers to increase understanding of available tools to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Create, document and assist other IT groups and teams with issues and problems.
  • Ensure services provided contribute to the successful accomplishment of department and organizational goals.
  • Possess intermediate technical expertise to support specific healthcare equipment and associated applications.
  • Cross-train to become proficient in multiple types of medical device integration, communication devices and applications.
  • Apply skills in line with Houston Methodist values and goals to assure efficient, effective and consistent delivery of high quality IT services.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Three years’ experience in IT to include two years’ experience with medical device integration, communication system integration or Biomedical healthcare technology management.

  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
  • Technical skills to support and understand workflows associated with integration of equipment and downstream applications.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and generate innovative solutions in conjunction with customers, vendors, and Information Technology.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, Field Operations and vendors to support communication and medical device integration at the point of patient care.
  • Assists, trains and supports customers with the operation and administration of equipment and associated systems.
  • Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective and professional.
  • Shares acquired skills with team members through documentation and training.
  • Supports full equipment life cycle including equipment assembly, integration with associated applications, validation, installation and support.
  • Proposes solutions to problems and considers timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality in addressing client needs.
  • Utilizes working knowledge of equipment, integration and associated applications to effectively complete assigned tasks.
  • Applies workflow to and from equipment used at the bedside to downstream applications.
  • Effectively leads and facilitates meetings. Develops meeting objectives, agendas and action items.
  • Supports equipment, integrations and software applications, including on call support.

  • Accurately completes and submits assigned work and status reports according to project timelines and expectations.
  • Prioritizes issue resolution, work requests and tasks effectively.

Growth/Innovation Essential Functions

  • Participates in medical and communication device planning associated with expansion projects at assigned facilities and anticipates opportunities related to new construction and/or equipment.
  • Resolves problems of moderate to advanced complexity using strong analytical and logic skills.
  • Generates innovative solutions in partnership with customers, vendors and cross-functional IT teams.
  • Proactively manages own professional development.
  • Completes Individual Development Plan (IDP).
