About the role

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport vital medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver position is based in Charlottesville, VA and involves driving a company‑owned vehicle to deliver lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x‑rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company‑owned vehicle safely while transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x‑rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Operate a hand‑held scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Strictly observe operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
• Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle.
• Adapt to varying route duties based on client and business needs; assignments may change from time to time.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
• Build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must be at least 19 years of age with an active driver’s license for a minimum of 3 years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity with technology and ability to adapt to new tools.
• Ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Pass initial and random drug & alcohol screenings.
• Drive a non‑commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination as required by location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, and handle varying item weights.
• Comfortable walking long distances and standing for extended periods.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
