Responsibilities

• Arrange and coordinate appropriate health services, including urgent, emergent, and preventative health services for children in care.
• Maintain complete, confidential medical records for children, ensuring appropriate communication of health needs to case managers and clinicians.
• Schedule health care appointments and ensure qualified interpretation and translation services are in place.
• Coordinate transportation to health care appointments and serve as a liaison for community health care providers.
• Formulate treatment authorization requests to Point Comfort Underwriters for unaccompanied refugee clients.
• Collaborate with Point Comfort Underwriters Insurance as the subject matter expert, providing continuous consultation and support.
• Provide resources and reports upon discharge, ensuring documentation and filing compliance with all required forms.
• Reconcile and address all billing errors to ensure accurate billing with no profit loss.
• Participate in on-call duties to assist shelter care staff with medical issues after business hours as needed.
• Stay informed about all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services.
• Periodically travel to health care provider facilities to build positive working relationships and transport clients.
• May be required to complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of employment in public health or healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
• Licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) or higher health-related qualification (e.g., licensed registered nurse (RN) with a bachelor’s degree), OR a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Bilingual Spanish/English fluency, preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
• Must be reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
• Must be able to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
• Must be able to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill the essential job functions.
• Must successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization.
• Must exhibit integrity and good moral character to provide appropriate care.
• Must possess the relevant experience and/or qualifications to work with these clients and clients with special needs.
• Must be properly trained and licensed, as necessary.
• Must be able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route: TDaP or Tdap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one Tdap dose in adulthood.
• Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
• Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage.
• Must pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.

Qualifications

Skills

• Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
