About the Role

Under the direction of the Team Manager (DESA I), the Medical Consultant (MC), Psychiatrist in conjunction with Disability Evaluation Analyst staff, adjudicates applications for disability benefits under the Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and/or Medi-Cal programs.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews case histories, evaluates and interprets medical reports, and evaluates possible effects of medical or surgical treatment in relationship to program requirements.
  • Provides assessments of the applicant’s functional abilities based on program guidelines.
  • Is a full participant on the team and is involved in decision-making regarding team endeavors related to the team's quality, workflow, and production.

Pay

  • Range A: $13,372.00 - $18,342.00
  • Range B: $14,017.00 - $19,232.00
  • Range C: $14,425.00 - $19,790.00

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Work Location & Schedule

Los Angeles County, Hybrid telework schedule. Permanent, full-time position.

Special Requirements

  • This position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • This position requires Federal fingerprint clearance and background check. Criminal record checks of prospective full- or part-time CDSS, Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) personnel will be conducted. Applicants will be required to submit fingerprints for Federal processing. Federal clearance is a condition of employment for this position (Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12).
  • Subject to Social Security Administration hiring authority.
