About the role
This is a 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date.
Responsibilities
- Provides coding and pre-defined abstracting services following mandated Federal and State Regulations, The Joint Commission, CHLA Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, Division specific coding guidelines, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Participates in providing quality coded data for outcomes, peer review, reimbursement, research, marketing and development.
- Performs as a mentor to non-credentialed coding staff.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Medical Coder, preferably with Pediatric Coding experience and/or coding experience in a large teaching hospital.
- High school graduate or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
- CCS or CPC credential and CEUs to maintain required.
Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT assignments.
