CorVel Corporation is seeking a caring, self-motivated, energetic, and independent registered nurse for a Medical Case Manager role in the Tampa, FL area. This position offers a work-from-home and on-the-road hybrid schedule with regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

About the Role

As a Medical Case Manager, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of injured workers and their families. You will work collaboratively with patients, their families, medical providers, and other team members to facilitate recovery. This role involves heavy local travel and managing a caseload of workers' compensation cases within a defined jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides in-person and telephonic medical case management to individuals, involving the patient, physician, other healthcare providers, the employer, and the referral source.
  • Utilizes medical and nursing knowledge to discuss the current treatment plan with the physician and explore alternate treatment plans.
  • Performs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s progress.
  • Evaluates the patient’s treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Attends doctors' appointments, provider visits, home visits, and in some cases, attorney meetings.
  • Participates in hospital and/or long-term facility discharge planning conferences to determine care appropriateness and develop long-term care strategies.
  • Conducts home visits for initial evaluations.
  • Implements care, such as negotiating the delivery of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
  • Requires regular local travel, up to approximately 60% of the workweek/month, dependent on the injured worker’s needs.
  • May require occasional overnight travel.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of operation.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned locations.
  • Experience as an RN Medical Case Manager is ideal, or a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other case management certifications is preferred.

Skills

  • Effective communication and multi-tasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to meet with patients, physicians, healthcare providers, attorneys, advisors/clients, and coworkers.
  • Cost containment background, such as utilization review or managed care, is helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

Pay

CorVel uses a market-based approach to pay, with salary ranges varying by location and factors such as federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions. The pay range for this role is $63,739 - $95,264. For leveled roles, new hires may be slotted into a different level based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit, which may impact the salary range.

Schedule
