About the Role

This full-time position assists individuals applying for medical coverage using the Maryland Health Connection. Services include health promotion, program education and management, assistance with the application process, coordination of scheduling appointments, and providing a holistic approach to healthcare management for individuals and families. The role also involves providing information and referrals to appropriate agencies, HealthChoice outreach and education, assistance with accessing care, and Managed Care Organization (MCO) navigation.

The selected applicant must be willing and able to travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites and may be required to work some evening and/or weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with applications for medical coverage via Maryland Health Connection
  • Provide health promotion, program education, and management
  • Coordinate scheduling of appointments
  • Support holistic healthcare management for individuals and families
  • Offer information and referrals to appropriate agencies
  • Conduct HealthChoice outreach and education
  • Assist with accessing care and MCO navigation

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
  • Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance, or federal/State entitlement program

Notes: Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience determining eligibility for government assistance programs
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, regulations, and procedures
  • Experience working with the public, including interviewing, explaining information, and gathering/compiling data
