Medical Billing Specialist (Revenue Cycle)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Medical Billing Specialist will support the day-to-day revenue cycle operations by managing approximately 40–60 claims per day, including billing new claims, following up on unpaid claims, researching denials, submitting corrected claims and appeals, and working aged accounts receivable. This individual will work closely with the revenue cycle team to ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and exceptional service while utilizing Epic as the primary billing platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process approximately 40–60 medical claims per day
• Review, code, and submit insurance claims accurately and timely
• Follow up on unpaid and underpaid claims with commercial and government insurance carriers
• Research claim denials and submit corrected claims, rebills, and appeals
• Manage aged accounts receivable and resolve outstanding balances
• Maintain accurate billing documentation within Epic
• Collaborate with providers and internal staff to resolve billing discrepancies and support timely reimbursement

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience within a vein & vascular or orthopedic practice
• Experience utilizing Epic for medical billing is required
• Experience working with commercial and government insurance payors
• Experience managing claim denials, appeals, rebills, and aged accounts receivable
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
