Medical Billing Specialist Job

Responsibilities

• Submit and track insurance claims accurately and timely
• Verify patient insurance benefits and coverage
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims
• Post insurance and patient payments
• Review and resolve billing discrepancies
• Maintain accurate patient account records
• Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and clinic staff
• Affirm compliance with payer guidelines and HIPAA regulations
• Assist with month-end billing and reporting processes
• Help patients understand Explanation of Benefits (EOB)

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of medical billing/AT billing experience
• Knowledge of insurance claims processing and reimbursement procedures
• Experience with EMR and billing software, including electronic filing, denials, aging of accounts
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Project a warm, enthusiastic, and friendly demeanor in client and team member interactions
• Navigate insurance websites
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare billing certifications are a plus
