Medical Biller/Coder

About the role

This is a remote position with the opportunity to work from home once training has been successfully completed. Onsite training is required during the initial training period. Training will take place at our Overland Park, Kansas office to ensure new team members receive the hands-on training and support needed to be successful in the position. Following completion of training, this position will transition to a remote work schedule, with occasional onsite meetings or training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timely charge entry
• Medical coding and review of documentation for appropriate coding
• Claim submission, follow-up, and corrections
• Insurance eligibility and benefit verification
• Accounts Receivable (A/R) follow-up
• Insurance denial management and appeals
• Payment posting and reconciliation
• Patient and insurance collections
• Researching and resolving claim issues and billing discrepancies
• Reviewing claim edits and correcting billing errors
• Communicating with patients and insurance companies by phone
• Working with providers and office staff to resolve billing and coding questions
• Maintaining accurate and timely billing records
• Assisting with various revenue cycle and billing projects
• Other billing and coding duties as assigned

Education, Skills & Experience

• 1–2 years of medical billing experience required
• Medical coding experience preferred
• Multi-specialty medical billing experience preferred
• Experience with physician practice billing preferred
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred
• eClinicalWorks (ECW) experience preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• High attention to detail required
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and remain productive in a remote work environment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative billing team
• Knowledge of insurance claims, denials, A/R, and revenue cycle processes
• Professional and positive attitude

Pay

Starting wage: $23–$25 per hour, with quarterly bonus opportunities.
