Medical Biller/ Accounts Receivable Specialist
This is a Contract to Hire, fully onsite position based in Chesapeake, VA.

Responsibilities
- Manage daily workloads through EPIC work queues and ATB reports to efficiently resolve aging accounts.
- Prioritize accounts based on claim age and outstanding balance, focusing first on high-dollar and oldest receivables.
- Review account activity to assess payment status, identify denials, and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
- Investigate and resolve insurance denials by researching root causes and implementing corrective measures.
- Request and coordinate medical records as needed, collaborating with the Medical Records team and uploading supporting documentation to payer portals.
- Communicate with insurance carriers to resolve unpaid or denied claims, obtain claim status updates, and clarify coverage or processing issues.
- Contact patients to verify, update, or correct Coordination of Benefits (COB) information.
- Complete all required follow-up activities to ensure claims are processed accurately and reimbursement is received in a timely manner.
- Monitor denial and follow-up trends to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
Requirements
- Previous 3+ years experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or insurance follow-up
- Strong understanding of claim denials, follow-up processes, and insurance reimbursement
- Ability to analyze data and identify trends related to claim issues
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably EPIC
Pay
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
