About the role
Beloit Health System is adding a Medical Assistant to our team at Beloit Clinic West Side Clinic. The selected candidate will work 36 hours per week on a 1st shift schedule from 8a-5p and is benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed health care professionals in performing various tasks, including rooming patients, monitoring patient flow, and returning phone messages
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs, administer medications, and assist with diagnostic procedures and/or treatments
- Maintain patient medical records, stock rooms, and assist with medical emergencies
- Assist with scheduling appointments, completing pre-certifications, and completing patient forms
- Prepare patient documentation and medical records in preparation for appointments
- Escort patients to rooms, obtain vitals, and update medical records
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures and ensure consent is signed and dated
- Assist physicians with examinations and/or procedures and administer medications as ordered
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and receive and handle telephone calls to the department
- Assist with triaging calls under the supervision of a licensed health care professional
- Assist physicians with educating patients and families and demonstrate effectiveness and courtesy in scheduling patients for appointments
- Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting, and providing medications to patients
- Review basic physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families and adhere to infection control policies
- Navigate computer software applicable to the department and perform unit-specific duties according to established unit-based competencies
- Participate in quality assurance activities and ensure appropriate supplies are on hand
- Assure timely completion of assigned duties
Requirements
- Certified or Registered as Medical Assistant at time of employment (CMA, RMA, or CCMA)
- Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire
- Preferred experience with Electronic Medical Records and prior experience in Family Practice
- Strong critical thinking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication and counseling skills
- Two years of clinical experience desirable
