Medical Assistant-UF Pediatrics - San Jose-Full-Time-Days

Overview

A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs
• Prepare patients for the provider's care
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments
• Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time
• Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of licensed physician
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms
• Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider
• Administer basic first aid
• Participates in performance improvement projects
• Participates as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care
• Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma / GED Required at time of hire
• Completion of an MA program that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board

Experience

• 1-year Medical assistant – preferred
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry - preferred
• 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for inputting data and reviewing - preferred

Certification/Licensure

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hire - American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire

Additional Details

• May travel to other clinics under additional duties
