Program Highlights

• 8 Weeks of Classroom Training at Great Bay Community College (Portsmouth, NH) - Monday-Thursday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, Friday: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
• 4-Week Clinical Internship within Core Physicians practices
• Tuition Assistance Program cost for employee: $2,950 (Tuition shared between employer and employee)
• Certification Preparation for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Medical Assistant Certification Exam
• Full-Time Employment Opportunity upon successful completion of the program

Program Requirements

• Attend 40 hours of classroom instruction each week for 8 weeks
• Succeed in passing the final exam
• Demonstrate competency in required clinical skills during the internship

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED

Major Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties such as assisting provider with examinations, procedures and obtaining vital signs
• Clean instruments and exam rooms as needed
• Prepare instruments for sterilization as required
• Order and stock exam rooms with appropriate medical supplies
• Call in prescriptions as directed by the provider
• May schedule pre-admission and diagnostic testing, follow up with patients after surgery
• May perform any of the following administrative duties: answering telephone inquiries, scheduling, organizing patient charts, filing, pulling and copying patient records
• Maintain and adhere to established Core policies and procedures and federal regulations, including, patient confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards
• Perform other duties as assigned
