About the role
The Medical Assistant (MA) role at Lincoln Hospital is assigned duties and responsibilities related to patient care and administrative support in a team-based environment. The MA functions under the license of the physician/advanced practice practitioner when performing clinical and other patient care responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake and registration
- Perform basic medical procedures under supervision
- Administer medications and injections
- Take patient vital signs
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment
- Collect and process specimens for laboratory tests
- Manage patient records and scheduling
- Communicate with patients and families regarding their health status and treatment plans
- Support the healthcare team in providing comprehensive patient care
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed, or completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting, or 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
- Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, NCCT, or NREMT certification preferred
- Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date
- A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for positions in New Hampshire
- Relevant experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
