About the role
The Medical Assistant Supervisor oversees the department medical assistants, ensuring they are properly trained and evaluated. They manage schedules, escort patients to exam rooms, and assist physicians with medical and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Supervise department medical assistants including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Establish and maintain schedules for medical assistants in the clinic.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and confirm their identity by verifying name and date of birth.
- Document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
- Assist physicians directly in performing medical/surgical procedures as directed.
- Maintain and order clinical and non-clinical supplies for the area.
- Act as a liaison between the medical team and patients to ensure patient satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Successful completion of an approved medical assistants program.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a medical assistant supervisor in an outpatient setting.
- Three or more years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a physician office, hospital, or ambulatory care facility.
Qualifications
- Pleasant personality and experience working with the public and patients with special needs.
- Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude and organize information quickly.
- Computer skills, medical terminology, and experience with office assessments.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using information technology systems.
