About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for administering patient care within the scope of their training and expertise under the supervision of a Physician. This PRN (as-needed) position will serve as a float within the Primary Care Clinic (PCC) department to cover staff on leave or open positions. The role operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at Cool Springs Clinic.

The MA will handle patient intake, ensure exam rooms are cleaned and prepared between visits, assist with medication and nutrition orders, and stock/maintain clinic supplies. This role will also be cross-trained to support Patient Service Specialist (PSS) duties, including checking patients in and out of the clinic.

This position is critical to maintaining efficient patient care, reducing delays, improving patient satisfaction, and mitigating staff burnout. The ideal candidate will assist across all Medicine PCC clinics, with an emphasis on Nephrology Shelbyville, and preferably lives south of Nashville.

Responsibilities

• Administer patient care under physician supervision.
• Conduct patient intake for all assigned patients.

Requirements

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (LIC-Certified Medical Assistant from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants).
• Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program.
• 1 year of relevant work experience.
