About the Role
We have an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our team at Shady Grove Fertility in Columbia, Maryland. This role provides the opportunity to grow within a nationally respected organization while remaining closely connected to the patients and teams you support every day.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM and two holidays per year.
Pay
$20 to $23 per hour (commensurate with experience).
Responsibilities
- Perform high volume of phlebotomy
- Maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations
- Assist with the clinical care of fertility patients
- Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs
- Provide patient/couple counseling, procedure teaching, communicates physician orders and instructions
- Provide pre and post op education
- Perform semen washes and sets up for IUIs
- Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance
- Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients’ families
- Work independently to assure the program goals are achieved
- Support and promote excellence in customer service
Requirements
- Strong phlebotomy skills required
- High School diploma
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program; preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to follow-through, and high degree of comfort with computer applications
- Accuracy and speed with data entry is required
- Minimum of one year of prior experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology
