About the role
Vivent Health is seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Services Representative (MA/PSR) to join our dynamic team. This position is crucial in ensuring smooth patient flow and clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with the public, including employees, patients, clients, volunteers, visitors, and vendors.
- Treat patients and clients with respect and sensitivity; explain procedures to new patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including rooming, maintaining exam rooms, vital signs, vaccinations, ECGs, and phlebotomy.
- Register and update patient information in electronic health records, schedule patient appointments, verify insurance, and collect co-pays.
- Make reminder calls to ensure patient attendance.
- Aid in managing patient flow and clinic operations.
- Answer, screen, and forward phone calls, providing basic information.
- Support staff with administrative tasks like distributing information, faxing, copying, scanning, ordering medical supplies, and word processing.
- Prepare and maintain patient records in compliance with regulations.
- Process specialty care referrals and abstract lab results.
- Ensure clinic equipment is in good working order, monitoring expiration dates and performing routine checks.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, special projects, and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the practice manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required; Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) accepted in states where applicable.
- Basic lifesaving certificate.
- One year or greater experience in phlebotomy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional administrative experience.
- Six months of health care receptionist experience.
- Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy clinic environment.
- Epic experience strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel within the designated territory.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
- Exemplary customer service and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with diverse people groups.
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
- Highly flexible; able to accommodate changing needs of the department.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS disease and ability to interact with diverse populations.
- Work experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: One year or greater experience in phlebotomy, minimum of 3 years of professional administrative experience, six months of health care receptionist experience.
- Skills: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), basic lifesaving certificate, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows, knowledge of HIV/AIDS patient population, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, multitask in a busy environment, strong organizational and administrative skills, and flexibility.

Pay
The starting pay rate is $25.00 hourly, depending on experience. The final salary will be determined based on factors such as market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications.
