About the role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Medical Assistant to support our providers and care teams. The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care within our ambulatory clinics. This position supports providers and patients through a variety of responsibilities related to patient intake, clinical procedures, care coordination, documentation, and communication. The role reports to the Clinic Manager and plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support physicians and care teams by providing both clinical and administrative assistance to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Room patients, obtain medical histories, measure and document vital signs, and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist with clinical procedures, point-of-care testing, immunizations, injections, and other patient care activities within scope of practice.
- Prepare exam rooms, maintain clinical supplies, and ensure equipment is cleaned, stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Care for coordination of patient care by scheduling appointments, referrals, diagnostic testing, and communicating with providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare partners.
- Provide exceptional customer service and patient education while promoting a positive patient experience.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, OSHA requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations and patient care.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or equivalent certification preferred.
- Current BLS (CPR) certification required.
- Immunization certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- One to two years of ambulatory clinical Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
- Strong clinical skills including vital signs, injections, and EKGs.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer applications.
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Able to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.
- Professional, patient-centered demeanor and cultural sensitivity.
