Possible travel to Federal Way, Puyallup, and Olympia.

Responsibilities

  • Collect selected data about the health status of the patient.
  • Determine the consumer’s purpose for visit, concerns, and educational/physical needs.
  • Check and record consumers' vital signs.
  • Record pertinent data on the consumer’s medical record.
  • Recognize urgent/emergent situations and refer them in a timely fashion to a physician or nurse.
  • Participate with other health team members in developing the nursing care plan.
  • Contribute pertinent information to the nursing plan of care and communicate it to the appropriate professional provider.
  • Follow through and implement the nursing plan of care safely and completely according to role and team specifications.
  • Document accurate information in the proper format.
  • Communicate in an attentive and individualized manner in every encounter.
  • Participate in the coordination and facilitation of care for the patient.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with other team members to accomplish the workload.
  • Recognize and report obvious psychosocial, cultural, and/or emotional needs.
  • Verify the patient’s understanding of the purpose for the visit.
  • Instruct and orient patients and family/significant others to the health care team, services available, and access to those services.
  • Participate in the orientation of new consumers to Kaiser Permanente Washington’s policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the Consumer Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Provide instruction to the patient and family/significant others according to the educational plan determined by the professional provider.
  • Provide instruction that matches learning needs and the nursing plan of care.
  • Encourage patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens.
  • Provide preventive care information under the direction of the professional provider, tailored to the patient’s age, sex, and health status.
  • Utilize available health education resources.
  • Reinforce the plan with the patient to improve general health status.
  • Accurately document selected patient history observations and procedures.
  • Adhere to Kaiser Permanente Washington documentation standards.
  • Provide each patient a safe, comfortable, and private environment.
  • Ensure a safe environment for each patient and adhere to safety standards.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for practice, continued growth, and self-evaluation.
  • Identify own learning needs and participate in educational efforts to meet those needs.
  • Participate in staff orientation and student education activities.
  • Participate in the process for self and colleague/team performance reviews with managers.
  • Consistently demonstrate an appearance aligned with the current dress code policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program prior to start date/transfer or equivalent military experience with the ability to obtain MA-I prior to start date.
  • Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire or Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support required at hire.
  • If hired as MA-I, must obtain MA-C prior to the expiration of the MA-I credential.
  • Knowledge and skills listed on the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Medical Assistant Competencies/Skills Inventory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time, standard worker location (onsite).
  • Shift: Day, Monday through Friday.
  • Working Hours: 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM.
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.

Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Pay

Pay Range: $27.71 - $41.24 per hour. Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market-competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role. Actual base pay at offer will be determined by labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
