About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our healthcare team as an entry-level Medical Assistant. This position provides essential support to healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care and is ideal for candidates with a passion for healthcare who are looking to start their career in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed medical staff member.
  • Complete clerical duties associated with care provision, including patient intake, vitals, and documentation of past/present illness, history, chief complaint, medical labs, referrals, procedures, blood draws, injections, and relevant medical information.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records, including entering data into the computer, ensuring proper documentation of all procedures, and assisting with processing and billing for patient services (Managed Care, Family PACT, Medicare, Medi-Cal, CHPD, CPSP, or MHLA).
  • Assist with patient flow, including greeting patients, locating charts, checking/making appointments, answering telephones, and referring patients to appropriate personnel.
  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly assignments as directed by the supervisor (Clinic Manager/LVN).
  • Utilize systems such as CAIR, VFC, and others as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist with immunization inventory, ordering, and reporting as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, maintaining inventory logs, and supply destruction logs.
  • Participate in cross-training for front office duties, assisting the Referral Coordinator and Pharmacy Technician as needed and directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform electronic lab ordering and process lab test results per clinic policy.
  • Assist in glucometer training for diabetic patients as ordered by the provider.
  • Receive and treat all patients with respect and professionalism.
  • Perform clerical duties, including preparing routine correspondence, filing, photocopying, faxing, answering telephones, and directing calls.
  • Attend and actively participate in all team and staff meetings and related continuing education programs.
  • Participate in ongoing training as required by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
  • Assist healthcare professionals in patient examination and treatment procedures.
  • Aid with patient education and instructions under the direction of healthcare providers.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and organization.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $24.00 - $28.09+ and will be dependent on experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
