About the role
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in the care team, overseeing the full spectrum of the patient experience. This includes acting as a Medical Receptionist and performing clinical duties such as taking vitals, performing blood draws, giving injections, assisting with procedures, preparing and administering medications, and coordinating care.
Responsibilities
- Escorts patients to room and ensures exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned and stocked
- Reviews previous medical information and gathers updated health information from the patient
- Takes vitals, performs blood draws, gives injections, bandages wounds, assists with procedures
- Works with contracted labs for additional tests
- Prepares and administers approved medications and immunizations
- Partners with other members of the care team to develop individual patient care plans
- Performs front desk duties including patient scheduling, medical record requests, documentation, coordinating specialist visits, referrals, and other care outside of the clinic, check-in, check-out, etc.
- Records accurate and pertinent data in the medical record according to documentation guidelines
- Processes test results and provides timely results to the patient
- Maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment for treatments
- Participates in outreach to patients to drive engagement
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant, preferably in Primary Care
- Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant program or other related program
- National or state-specific MA certification or registration is strongly preferred
- CPR/BLS certification required at time of start date
- Phlebotomy experience is preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current national or state-specific MA certification or registration

- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
