Medical Assistant (MA), Primary Care - Center for Advanced Care

About the Role

The Medical Assistant I (MA I) is an unlicensed healthcare professional who performs routine technical services within the medical practice settings under the supervision of the physician and the department’s leadership staff. The associate in this role possesses knowledge and skills to function efficiently in the back office and/or front office.

Pay

Pay Range Minimum $23.00, Midpoint $28.77, Maximum $34.54. Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Schedule

This is a full-time benefitted position supporting day shifts (08 hours).

Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate patient care depending on age, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards.
• Advance care through development of new ideas and technology.
• Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission, understanding, and exceeding patient and family expectations.
• Perform routine technical services within the medical practice settings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Graduate of a vocational school having successfully completed requirements for Medical Assistant.
• Previous work experience or externship in a healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Medical Assistant Diploma.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job.
• Proficient in medical terminology.
• Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Work Environment

Functional Demand: Medium - High energy level.

• Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
• Push/pull +/- 150-200 lbs. (Patients on bed, stretcher).
• Lateral transfer 150-200 lbs. (e.g., Patient).

Physical Activity Requirements

• Bending, Carry Objects, Climbing, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Pinching/fine motor activities, Push/Pull, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Sitting, Squat/kneel/crawl, Standing, Talk or hear, Taste or smell, Twisting, Walking, Wrist position deviation.
• Lifting (Floor to waist level) - Occasional 0-35%.
• Lifting (Waist level and above) - Occasional 0-35%.

Sensory and Environmental Requirements

• Color Discrimination, Depth Perception, Far Vision, Hearing, Near Vision.
• Airborne Communicable Disease, Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Dust Particulate Matter, Extreme Noise Levels, Extreme Temperatures, Radiation, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations.
