Position Description

Affords assistance in patient examination and treatment by managing patient information, documenting medical records, supporting in-office procedures and testing, dispensing medications, and educating patients and caregivers.

Duties

  • Greet and courteously escort patients and guests to examination rooms.
  • Determine and document reasons for visits; utilize critical thinking skills to assess if patient information needs further attention.
  • Follow protocols to screen patients and obtain necessary information to complete EMR templates.
  • Accurately document vital signs and BMI in patient EMR files. Perform diagnostic tests and assist with other office procedures/surgeries as directed.

    • Qualifications

      • Education: High School Diploma or GED, plus accredited/approved MA program and MA Externship, MA Internship, EMT program, Paramedic program, or Certified Athletic Trainer.
      • Credentials/Licensure: MA-Non-Credentialed I: MA eligibility for certification, EMT license, or Paramedic certification. Valid CPR certification.
      • MA-Credentialed I: Certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited agency.
      • Experience: 0-1 year previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

      Requirements

      • Ability to perform all NEO Basic Competencies.
      • Ability to perform all Medical Receptionist I Essential Functions.
      • Ability to work in an onsite mode.
      • Competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics and health history.
      • Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system.
      • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
      • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
      • Knowledge of compliance aspects of clinical care and patient privacy.
      • Ability to handle patient and organizational information confidentially.
      • Good organizational and time management skills.
      • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to perform mathematical calculations needed during job duties.
      • Specific vision abilities required for conducting business.
      • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
      • Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business.
