Responsibilities

  • Aid healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures.
  • Administer injections, medications, and basic first aid as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and handle specimens.
  • Conduct ECGs, basic wound care, and point-of-care diagnostic tasks as required.
  • Maintain examination rooms throughout the day by ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of supplies.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records.
  • Update and maintain electronic health records (EHRs).
  • Handle billing and coding procedures.
  • Absorb and manage front-office activities when necessary.
  • Answer phone calls, greet patients, and manage front-office activities when necessary.
  • Assist with insurance verification and processing.
  • Instruct patients on medications, procedures, and follow-up care as directed by provider.
  • Offer guidance on lifestyle changes, dietary recommendations, and preventive care as directed by provider.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, including physicians, APRN, PA, nurses, and administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with other medical assistants to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Follow infection control and blood-borne pathogen control protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
  • OR Current, unrestricted LPN license in the state of Ohio.
  • Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and electronic health records patient management software.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
  • Appropriate immunizations will be provided in the event the current health record is not available or is expired.
