Responsibilities

Purpose: The Medical Assistant assists with direct patient care and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients
  • Room patients and measure/record vital signs (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
  • Complete patient interviews and histories
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests, and treatments, and explain procedures
  • Assist with procedures as ordered by the physician
  • Set up equipment and prepare medical treatment rooms
  • Collect and process samples (blood, urine, sputum) for routine laboratory tests

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one of the following:
    • Diploma from a Medical Assistant Program
    • Minimum of 1 year of medical assisting experience
    • Military Medic training
    • EMT-P (Paramedic) training
    • Equivalent of 1 year combined relevant medical assisting experience and education

Preferences

  • Medical Assistant Certification (additional compensation provided for certified MAs)

Pay

Pay Range: USD $18.20 - USD $29.33 /Hr.
