About the Role
The Primary Care Patient Care MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way. The MA will partner with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients. Duties and responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards.
Responsibilities
- Complete Advanced Standard Rooming with overall achievement ≥90% for the last 6 months, including:
- AWV questionnaire and documentation
- Thorough Medication Reconciliation
- Closing all open care gaps as indicated (Fall Risk, Depression, Breast Cancer Screening, Colorectal Cancer Screening, and Diabetes Eye Exam)
- Blood Pressure Recheck for patients with elevated initial reading
- Completion of Patient Experience Conversation
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Utilize EHR systems and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Perform common outpatient procedures and operate clinical equipment
- Adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment while multitasking
- Apply knowledge of varying differences and behaviors among populations served
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must attend MA Clinic Academy training upon hire
- Must have completed all MA Competencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- One year of applicable patient care experience or medical office experience
Work Environment
- Outpatient clinical setting with frequent patient interaction
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and use of clinical equipment
- Potential exposure to infectious materials; PPE provided
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
