Medical Assistant - Lone Tree Family Practice

About the role
The Medical Assistant assists the provider (Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner) in examination and treatment of patients by performing clinical and administrative duties in a service-oriented manner.
Responsibilities
- Complete patient intake by welcoming patients, preparing them for healthcare visits, placing them in exam rooms, obtaining medical history, and verifying patient information.
- Document a full and accurate set of vital signs and populate all sections of the electronic medical record (EMR) timely and accurately, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history, and quality tab.
- Assist providers during examinations and treatments, performing point-of-care tests appropriate to skill level, certifications, and state regulations.
- Maintain supplies in storage areas and exam rooms.
- Disinfect and clean treatment rooms following patient examinations; maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Conduct business in a service-oriented manner, attentive, cooperative, sensitive, and respectful with all patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Perform pre-visit planning per standard operating procedure guidelines.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen).
- Check and address voicemails multiple times during the working day.
- Address inbox messages (buckets) in the EMR for providers, provider staff, and self.
- Serve as back-up for front office tasks, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
- Maintain a professional working relationship with vendors supporting the practice.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for all internal and external systems.
- Communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings and audience.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited healthcare program (e.g., Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT) or equivalent work experience.
- Maintain certifications per state guidelines.
- Nationally recognized Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills; EMR experience preferred.
- Some Medical Assistant experience required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) card.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.
- Experience with Athenahealth practice management system.

Pay
$21 - $27 per hour. The estimate represents the typical salary range for candidates hired. Factors such as specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in this role may determine actual salary.
