About the role
The Medical Assistant II supports medical care providers in an outpatient/clinic setting. Key duties include rooming patients, setting up equipment, assisting with exams and procedures, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, documenting patient information, processing medication refills, and providing patient education.
Responsibilities
- Accurately document and update patient medical history and other information in electronic and/or paper medical records.
- Perform necessary tests and screenings as ordered by providers.
- Administer immunizations and medications within scope of practice.
- Assist with minor procedures and prepare instruments for reprocessing.
- Handle patient requests for medication refills and coordinate with pharmacies.
- Prepare and stock exam rooms with necessary supplies.
- Ensure patient flow and maintain a supportive environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and insurance verification.
- Provide technical support and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma program
- One year experience in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting
- Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR)
- Ability to analyze clinical and administrative information and determine appropriate actions
- Effective communication and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, and insurance verification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City)
