Essential Functions
- Takes vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure).
- Affords assistance with patient mobility and positioning.
- Reports patient status changes to nurse/physician/physician assistant.
- Competently applies casts and splints.
- Initiates CPR.
- Communicates with patient and/or family.
- Transports patients by pushing, pulling, and lifting in a wheelchair or cart.
- Repositions patients with or without mechanical divides by lifting, pulling and pushing.
- Organizes and prioritizes work to complete daily assignment.
- Prepares rooms for procedures.
- Participates in quality assurance, assessment and improvement activities.
- Provides patient education.
- Assists with post-op dressing changes, including preparation of supplies.
- Assists provider with procedures.
- Collections patient information.
- Administers treatments.
- Prepares injections for provider.
- Administers medications according to clinic policy.
- Assists Podiatrist in the office and out of the office, at Long Term Care & Assisted Living Facilities and other locations off of the main SBA Campus.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Will be oriented to and maintain competence in working with patients in the following age categories: Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent; Adult, and Geriatric patients.
Experience
- Two (2) Years Of Medical Assistant Experience Required.
- Previous hospital employment preferred but not required.
- Podiatry experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Job can demand constant walking.
- May require occasional sitting as well as frequent standing, bending and grasping.
- Occasionally requires lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs.
- Job requires full range of body motion, with occasional twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching.
- Job may require reaching overhead.
- Job requires ability to handle and lift patients.
- Eye-hand coordination, and finger and manual dexterity are required.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to a normal range.
- Job requires working under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours.
- Some exposure to communicable diseases, sharps, and hazardous material is anticipated.
- Job requires potential exposure to body fluids and radiation.
- Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
- Use of office equipment such as telephones, fax and copying machines is required.
- Repetitive movements such as writing are required.
