Medical Assistant II - Dutchtown Express Care
Job Purpose & Mission
Aid the physician in coordinating care for the age-specific population within the department’s scope of service, under the guidance of the physician, clinic RN, and/or clinic manager.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct basic physical assessments on patients, collecting necessary data for treatment. Ensure all assessment data is accurate and communicated promptly to the physician if emergent issues are identified.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician, adhering to clinic policy and protocol. Perform independent treatments based on patient needs and physician orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Answer and respond to patient care-related phone calls, assessing the call’s purpose and communicating with the physician accordingly. Document all actions and physician instructions accurately.
Assist with clinic data management, including charges and updating patient clinical records.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
1 to 2 years in a clinic setting.
Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
Certifications & Licensure
Current Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
Hipaa & Safety Requirements
HIPAA: Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all applicable HIPAA regulations, including handling patient demographics, lab, radiology, and films results, surgery/appointment schedules, patient financial and third-party billing information, patient complaints, and information related to patient location and religious beliefs.
Safety: Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all applicable safety practices, including incident reporting, waste handling, sharps and linens management, personal protective equipment (PPE), exposure control plans, hand washing, environmental rounds, clinical alarms, blood collection, medication administration, order receiving, and department-specific patient and employee safety standards.
